  • Politics: The investiture of Pedro Sánchez, live
  • The opposition. The PP takes to the streets in Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura to ask for "the vote in conscience" of the deputies of the PSOE

Pedro Sánchez is already president. 167 votes in favor , 165 against and 18 abstentions . Never the latter - from ERC and Bildu - had more value. Without them the endowment would not have come forward. There were no changes in the sense of vote, all the deputies, of one or another sign, remained in their thirteen. The ghost of an alleged tamayazo was diluted in a matter of seconds and proved to be a false threat. Sánchez has obtained the support of PSOE, Unidos Podemos, PNV, BNG, Nueva Canarias, Más País, Compromís and Teruel Existe. The rejection has come from the hands of PP, Vox, Citizens, Canary Coalition, PRC, CUP, Navarra Suma and Asturias Forum . Sanchez will shortly announce his bipartite government and, even with a different speech to that presented to the elections, will occupy La Moncloa with all of the law.

The new president has promised today "to look for government majorities" to get the country out of the long months of blockade and bogging down. Sanchez opens taking for granted that it is the Executive that the Spaniards want. His Government is "progressive and unprecedented, the only possible option", and the rest is a "multicolored coalition that only blocks and only proposes no."

His is "the option that won the victory last 10-N" and is "the expression of popular will," he said. In short, its offer is that of the blockade against adversaries who only raise "third elections."

Sánchez: "Continue in the tantrum"

Sanchez in his last speech in Congress before being invested has accused the right of "continually changing the pretext to save time" and has obviated its permanent changes in speech and promises. With this he has provoked the angry protests of the PP and has warmed the atmosphere: "They can continue in the tantrum or accept the result," he has snapped.

"You cannot build anything positive from frustration and bitterness," he has recommended.

Then, Sánchez has shelled what will undoubtedly be the first decisions of his Executive: raise the SMI, pensions, the salary of officials. His list has been long abounding in the social measures that will be "for all and for all". His Government will "widen freedom," he stressed.

"All without distinction of ideologies, all will benefit equally" and, in addition, has finished off, everything, including territorial changes, will be made "with respect to the Constitution ."

Pedro Sánchez has assured that he will create a "constructive climate" that will overcome the "toxic atmosphere, of tension and irritation that the right" has brought to the Chamber. And he has paraphrased who was president of the Republic Manuel Azaña : "Nobody has the right to patrimonialize patriotism."

Pablo Casado gestures during the investiture debate.

Married: "Overflow the regime of 78"

Pablo Casado, leader of the opposition, rose to the rostrum amid applause of his own and accompanied by saving the King. And is that the head of the PP opened his speech praising the Monarch and remembering the victims of terrorism. "The Spanish democracy has had two great enemies: the terrorists and the coup plotters and you," he said looking directly at Sanchez, "puts the government in your hands today."

Casado has revealed that the Executive that will now conform is braided with the wickerwork that Sánchez flatly denied during the election campaign. "It will overwhelm the regime of 78 ", that, according to the popular leader, is the price that the socialist has paid to be president. "Ultra is you," he said condemning him, "because he has exceeded all limits." "Your only homeland is you," he has riveted.

The dilemma facing the new Government is, it has predicted, "or accept to break Spain or be thrown out." In short, or assume the demands of independence or fall. Gabriel Rufián, ERC spokesman, already warned him on the first day of the debate.

Santiago Abascal votes 'no' to Pedro Sánchez.EFE

Casado also ended by citing Azaña and returning the glove to Sánchez: "I tolerate them attacking the republic, but not attacking Spain."

Abascal: "An illegitimate government"

Santiago Abascal, Vox leader, has opened his speech condemned the "disgusting murder" committed yesterday by a man against his wife and three-year-old daughter and this has given him the ground to defend his proposals against "domestic violence" and in favor of life imprisonment for such crimes, including those of a sexual nature. Abascal has used the first minutes of his speech to delve into one of the messages that most ignites in his electorate.

Then, entering the subject of the day, he accused Sánchez of "wanting to preside over an illegitimate government" that has "used the institutions to win the elections" and that will be composed of "communists with ties to theocracies and narco-dictatorships and that has the approval of ETA ".

Abascal has accused the Socialists of being giving an "institutional coup" and has finished with the same words Casado has used, those with which Azana reconvened his own co-religionists. Before getting off the stand: "Long live the King, Long live Spain."

We can social plans

Pablo Iglesias, future member of the new Government, with solemn tone has raised applause by reading a message from Rosa Lluch, daughter of Ernest LLuch, betting on "dialogue." Iglesias has already put on the vice president's suit and has addressed the House as such talking about the plans he intends to promote. The next Government, he said, will defend the right of all "to get excited with the symbols they want", and has referred to education, health as if they were rights that now do not exist.

Borràs: "Political prisoners"

JxCat spokeswoman Laura Borràs has chosen not to give Sanchez truce. JxCat, with its eight votes, has not contributed to investing the socialist whom they accuse of encouraging "repression" against independence. Borrás has predicted the nullity of the 1-O trial and has demanded the release of imprisoned politicians. "By persisting and resisting we will achieve it," he said.

Íñigo Errejón, from Más País, has gone up to the rostrum to ask that "the conditions of hate politics be eliminated and the country rebuilt." Joan Baldoví, from Compromís, wanted to trust that the new government will comply with what was agreed and that it will begin to do so in future budgets.

Ana Oramas, of Coalición Canarias, has insisted that "the interests of the Canaries and Spain are above their party." "I am neither a façade nor those who vote for the PSOE and Podemos can be terrorists," he said. Oramas, after apologizing to his own formation for having broken the voting discipline, has asked to recover "tolerance and respect" in the Chamber.

PRC: "Very serious irresponsibility"

José María Mazón, of the PRC, has insisted that the Government will last whatever ERC wants. He has warned Sanchez of his "very serious irresponsibility" and accused him of building an Executive "at any cost."

Tomás Guitarte, the deputy of Teruel Existe, whose vote has been decisive to break the investiture, has risen to the rostrum amid applause from the Socialists, evidently grateful and relieved by the meaning of his vote. Guitarte has justified his yes in the agreements reached with the PSOE but has added that it will also depend on the new Government respecting the Constitution.

ERC: "Accomplice of the lie"

On behalf of ERC, Monserrat Bassa, sister of Dolors Bassa, has been sentenced to twelve years for sedition and embezzlement. He has accused Sánchez of being also an "executioner" for doing nothing to get the "political prisoners" out of jail. Despite his speech, hard on the forms, the vote of his thirteen seats, has allowed the investiture of the one they accuse of "complicit in lies and repression." Bassa has stated emphatically: "Personally I give a damn about the governance of Spain." "From the management of rage and impotence, from skepticism, we choose to give dialogue a chance," he said to justify his vote.

Inés Arrimadas, again very hard, has caused Sanchez to remain "impassive" while listening to his partners talk about "political prisoners" and say that they care about "a cumin" the governance of Spain. The leader of Citizens has accused the new president of "recklessness" and reminded him that there was another way to govern by agreeing with the constitutionalists. "You have burned all the bridges," he reproached him. Arrimadas has taken advantage of his last minutes to urge "some brave socialist" to vote against Sánchez. "Agreeing with Bildu and with ERC is not progressive," he stressed, "it is sanchism," he said, before insisting on the need to "build a center."

Aitor Esteban, of the PNV, has accused PP, Cs and Vox of launching the message that this will be an "illegitimate" Government and doing a disservice to the Head of State, who recalled that it was he, precisely, who proposed as Sanchez candidate knowing that he already had a pact with United We can. Esteban, like the other minority forces that have decided to support the investiture, has urged Sánchez to "respect the agreements."

The representative of EH Bildu, Oskar Matute , has addressed the Plenary in the absence of the 52 deputies of Vox who have left their seats when he has gone up to the rostrum. Matute has asked for "truth, justice and reparation for all victims without distinction." "You," he said, looking towards the bench on the right, "neither beat us nor tamed us."

Navarra Suma, by mouth of Carlos García , one of his two deputies, has warned that he will not forgive the new Government that has the PNV as interlocutor on behalf of Navarra. "In Navarra nobody wants to be Euskadi", has snapped Sanchez and Esteban. "We will never shut up before a president who agrees with those who murdered and have not asked for forgiveness."

Foro Asturias, the last training to intervene, has launched a message in favor of the equality of the Spaniards that, in their opinion, is in danger with the new Government.
