Israel and other countries agree on gas pipeline construction Turkey rebounds at 13:10 on January 3

Israel has agreed with Greece and others to build a pipeline across the Eastern Mediterranean to send offshore natural gas to Europe. However, there is concern that Turkey, which is eager to develop natural gas in the same waters, is gaining rebound and becoming a new source of fire.

Heads of three countries, Israel, Greece and Cyprus, met yesterday in the Greek capital of Athens and agreed to build a gas pipeline across the eastern Mediterranean connecting Greece offshore and Greece.

With the aim of exporting Israel's mined natural gas to Europe, European countries with high reliance on Russian natural gas are expected to help diversify their energy procurement.

"Israel is about to become a major energy exporter and today is a historic day," Netanyahu said.

Meanwhile, Turkey, also facing the Eastern Mediterranean, has shown a strong willingness to develop gas fields in this area and is repulsing the plan.

In November last year, Turkey set up an exclusive economic zone with Libya's provisional government on the opposite shore of the Mediterranean to block this pipeline route, and developed over the gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean. Is likely to become a new source of fire in the region.

Israel's gas strategy

Israel will use its abundant natural gas resources developed offshore of the Eastern Mediterranean to export to neighboring countries in the future, improve relations with Arab nations, and have a high reliance on Russian gas. The European nations are set to strengthen their marketing and boost energy diplomacy.

Since 2009, Israel has discovered a large number of large gas fields off the eastern Mediterranean, working with U.S. companies to develop it, making Israel's gas consumption almost self-sufficient and weak. Successfully strengthened energy security.

Last January, Israel launched the East Mediterranean Gas Forum with neighboring Arab countries such as Egypt and Jordan, as well as southern European countries such as Greece, Italy and Cyprus. We are pushing for cooperation.

Specifically, it is trying to improve relations between Egypt and Jordan by supplying Israeli gas through existing pipelines and chilling.

We also want to push ahead with the construction of a pipeline with a total length of about 1900 km for European countries to gain a foothold in the European market.
