- This is partly due to Christmas and the New Year holidays that have been. These are long shopping lists and after Christmas the sales start so it is important to keep track of their money, says Tina Häggmark at the Kronofogdemyndighet.

You can always contact Kronofogden if you feel you have questions or concerns. In the clip, Tina Häggmark talks about her best tips on how to get the economy to recover after the big holidays.

Fewer are owed more

6045 people in the county had debts with the Crown Magistrate last year. This has been a decrease since 2016, but even though the number of debtors at the Crown Prosecution Service has decreased, the amount of debt has increased. Most people with debt to the crown guardian are in Umeå and the least number are in Bjurholm.

The effects are delayed

There are no statistics to show that the number of cases would increase with the Crown Magistrate in January. This is partly because it is a process before the unpaid bill comes to the custody, but also because the petitioner can only see that there is a debt, not the reason why the debt was not paid. It is therefore not possible to say that someone bought too many Christmas presents and therefore could not afford to pay, for example, the electricity bill.
