Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed that there will be no elections in Palestine that do not include occupied Jerusalem, in which the Israeli occupation refuses to organize Palestinian elections.

"We will not accept elections without Jerusalem and without the participation of our people," Abbas said in a speech on Wednesday marking the fifty-fifth anniversary of the start of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah).

He added that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the state of Palestine, and it is not for sale and bargaining, and that without Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, there will be no peace and stability.

Finally, a consensus was reached between the Fatah and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to hold the elections, but the occupation's neglect of the Palestinian Authority's request to organize the elections in occupied Jerusalem would lead to the postponement of this entitlement for another period.

Opening ceremonies
On the other hand, the Fatah movement marked the 55th anniversary of its popular activities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Thousands of supporters of the movement gathered in squares and squares in Ramallah and other cities in the West Bank, as well as in Gaza City.

Yesterday in Ramallah, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas lit the flame of the start of his Fatah movement, during a ceremony attended by a large number of leaders of the movement and other Palestinian factions.

Abbas said after the torch was lit that the revolution, which started in 1965, will continue until victory is achieved.

The Fatah movement, which sparked the contemporary Palestinian revolution and leads the largest national institutions, faces enormous challenges.

Despite the assertion of its leaders that it has withstood all the conspiracies, it faces today the most dangerous stages the Palestinian issue is going through, on top of which are the American proposals for peace and ways to resist the occupation and the Palestinian division.
