A doctor and nutritionist has warned of the danger of resorting to slimming and weight loss products, especially products sold in fitness centers or through social media, noting that they cause wasting, while their users think that they are on the path of fitness.

They said that many of them contain the substance "Sibutramine", which is banned globally, pointing to its danger to human health, because of the diseases that may result in it that threatens the heart and blood vessels, at a time when a study conducted by Dubai Municipality showed that 13% of slimming products in the markets contain this matter.

In detail, Maryam Ali Issa, head of the Nutrition Education and Clinical Nutrition Specialist at the Dubai Health Authority, said that the slimming and slimming products sold on the market contain risks to the health of their users, stressing the need to resort to following the appropriate diet to lose weight, away from medicines that Dangerous chemicals contain body systems.

She explained that slimming and slimming drugs work on three mechanisms: preventing the body from absorbing fat, losing appetite, and increasing metabolic rates in the body, stressing that the three mechanisms have damage to the rest of the body, especially for those who suffer from chronic diseases, and they also increase the possibility of heart disease who They have a greater chance of getting it, whether for genetic or health reasons.

She stressed the need for those who want to lose weight to follow a balanced and integrated diet that contains all the nutrients that the body needs, from carbohydrates and proteins, to drink large quantities of water, and rely heavily on vegetables and fruits, while making sure to exercise regularly.

She stressed that the effectiveness of pills and slimming and slimming drugs is temporary, so it causes a general imbalance in the body's systems, which exposes it to many diseases.

For his part, Dr. Usama Kamel Al Lala, a consultant for physical effort and public health, warned against eating slimming and slimming products that are sold in the market, or promoted by sellers through social media, stressing that they do not burn fat as its promoters claim, but most work to rid the body of Liquids, in addition to containing inactive ingredients that negatively affect human health.

He stressed that the safe and sound way to lose weight is to follow a healthy diet, exercise, and healthy sleep, stressing that what the manufactured products cause is wasting, not agility.

He explained that the substance "sibutramine", which is found inside the products of slimming and slimming, is considered a chemical, and it is manufactured in China and Pakistan, and it is banned from circulating internationally due to its risk to health.

He stated that these products do not burn fats, but rather negatively affect the center of satiety in the brain, and then the person loses the feeling of hunger at the expense of damages to his body, such as heart and stroke, poor concentration and nervousness.

He stressed that the control of such products is strict from the municipalities, but they are sold illegally, whether through workers in fitness centers, or through social media.

A new study conducted by the Health and Safety Department in Dubai Municipality showed that slimming products in the emirate's markets contain prohibited material.

The study was conducted on 129 samples of supplements for slimming in the markets, were analyzed in the Dubai Central Laboratory of the municipality, and it was found that 13% of the supplements contain the substance "Sibutramine", which is prohibited, which poses a risk to heart health.

The study, which was led by the director of the municipality’s Health and Safety Department, Dr. Naseem Rafie, indicated that the consumer should be made aware that any slimming product must be registered in the municipality to ensure that it conforms to the specifications.

A circular that the Ministry of Health and Community Protection had directed to the municipality and other countries in the country warned against the danger of the substance "sibutramine", because it could cause high blood pressure, or heart rate of some, as well as its danger to people with heart diseases and strokes.

Dubai Municipality has previously issued 11 circulars warning against the circulation, sale and use of health supplement products for slimming, harmful and not licensed by the competent authorities, pointing out that they contain internationally prohibited components that negatively affect the health of the consumer.

And prohibits several countries in the world, including America, Germany and Canada, the circulation of slimming products that contain the substance "sibutramine", according to studies conducted by the US Food and Drug Administration showed that this substance raises the risk of cardiovascular diseases by 16%.
