The Permanent Representative of the State to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Hamad Ali Al-Kaabi, affirmed that the UAE is committed to implementing the principles of its nuclear policy issued in 2008 related to adopting the highest standards of transparency, safety, security, sustainability and international cooperation during the development of a peaceful nuclear program.

Al-Kaabi said yesterday, “During the past decade, the UAE welcomed the International Atomic Energy Agency and the International Association of Nuclear Operators to carry out more than 40 missions that included conducting reviews and comparisons and gathering expert opinions on the Barakah nuclear power plant project, in order to ensure the progress of construction operations before starting actual operation in accordance with the best Global practices, and these measures also took into account the importance of conforming to the strict regulatory requirements of the Federal Nuclear Control Authority in the UAE.

He added that he works for the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and its subsidiaries a multinational team of experts in the field of nuclear energy who put the safety of employees, society and the environment a priority above all considerations during all stages of the UAE peaceful nuclear program.
