According to Taylor, the introduction of peacekeepers could be an “intermediate step” in resolving the conflict in the Donbass, which should result in the restoration of full control of Kiev over this region.

Earlier, a spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the Ukrainian side had not formally come up with new initiatives to introduce a UN peacekeeping mission in Donbass.
On December 14, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Priestayko did not rule out that if the conflict in the Donbass is not resolved on the basis of the Minsk agreements, then Kiev may turn to the UN with a request for the introduction of a peacekeeping mission.
