At least 14 people have died and 17 others have been injured when a passenger plane crashed on Friday after taking off from the airport of the Kazakh city of Almaty, the Emergency Committee of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan reported. On board the aircraft were traveling 95 passengers and 5 crew members , according to the Government.

"17 patients are hospitalized in an extremely serious condition , 14 people have died at the scene of the accident," the local administration said in a brief statement released via the Telegram message system.

The device, a Fokker 100 belonging to the Kazakh company Bek Air with 100 people on board -95 passengers and five crew, crashed as soon as it took off.

In his Twitter account, the president of Kazakhstan, Yomart-Kasim Tokáyev , expressed his condolences to the relatives of the fatalities and said that "those responsible for the accident will be sanctioned according to the law."

The government of the former Soviet Republic said the Bek Air company plane lost "takeoff altitude and hit a concrete wall . It crashed into a two-story structure."

The plane fell "in a populated area," the Emergency Situations committee specified. The accident took place near Kzyl-tu, a town located northeast of the airport of the former Kazakh capital and the economic heart of the country.

The wrecked plane, which authorities said did not catch fire after the collision, made the Z2100 flight between Almaty, the largest city in the country, and Nur-Sultan , the Kazakh capital.

The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure of Kazakhstan ordered the suspension of all flights of this type of aircraft until the causes of the accident are clarified.

The images published by the Emergency Situations Committee of Kazakhstan allowed us to see that the plane split essentially into two parts .

The front of the aircraft looked embedded in a largely destroyed house. However, the two parts of the plane visible in the images did not seem to have caught fire .

Rescuers, including several fire and ambulance trucks, as well as the police, were deployed in large quantities in the snow around the damaged parts of the fuselage, near the inhabited area.
