The director general of health services at the Turkish Ministry of Health, Ahmed Takin, said that Ankara occupies an important position among the top three globally in the field of organ transplantation.

In a meeting with Anatolia, Tekin added that Turkey has witnessed various organ transplant operations in recent years.

He stated that in 2018 Turkey witnessed the cultivation of 5,598 members, and the figures indicate that this number will rise to 6 thousand by the end of this year.

He pointed out that the development of the health sector in Turkey in recent years enabled it to occupy an important position within the first three centers worldwide in the field of organ transplantation.

Takin pointed out that Turkey has witnessed a transformation referred to as Lebanon in the health sector and its services since 2002. He explained that the achievements made in the field of health services made Turkey among the world leaders in this field.

Takin said that this situation is an indication of the success of health policies pursued by successive governments, and this development has reflected on the country's position in this sector at the global level.

White Sea Center
He considered that the development in the field of organ transplantation turned this sector into a source of pride for the Ministry of Health inside and outside the country.

He pointed out that the Center for Organ Transplantation at the University of the White Sea (Akdeniz) Turkish in the state of Antalya (South) is one of the most prominent and important centers in Turkey and the world in this field.

He stated that this center witnessed accurate, sensitive and very valuable operations in the field. Tekin said that he has become a world leader in organ transplantation, and an important medical base in this field.

He considered that the presence of this center in Turkey earns studies prepared in the country in the field of organ transplantation, especially important, and raises the levels of health services provided in the field.

"The Center for the University of the White Sea witnessed the first organ transplant by robot, and the series of successful operations conducted by it contributed to achieving international fame and pushing the growth process forward," Tekin said.

And he added that the center has contributed a great deal in shedding light on the studies and successful work that Turkey is witnessing in the field of organ transplantation.

Great healthy development
Takin stated that he had accompanied the Minister of Health Fakhruddin Kujah on many of his foreign visits to introduce the health tourism sector in Turkey, and the Ministry is making great efforts to develop this sector.

He stressed that Turkey has achieved during the past years a wonderful boom in the field of health services, as is the case in many areas, noting that it receives many foreign patients annually to receive medical services.

Takin concluded that the health tourism sector achieved for Turkey during 2019 between 1.5 and 2 billion dollars, and the agreements concluded by Ankara with several countries in order to receive patients in need of special health care that would raise the number to about 10 billion dollars annually.
