Discovered by the police, five former repents of the Messina mafia were arrested today. The investigation was conducted by the mobile squad and coordinated by the Dda of Messina, led by Maurizio de Lucia. The investigation, which led to a total of 14 precautionary measures - 13 in prison and one of house arrest - was born a year ago when the Police discovered that a group of ex-repented Messinesi, prominent protagonists of the clans in the 80s and 1990s, they returned to the city after having served their sentence and completed the collaboration with the investigators.In Messina the former collaborators of justice have created a cell of Cosa Nostra with the aim of regaining the territory and returning to power. Interceptions, stalking and analysis of telephone traffic have verified the existence of two criminal organizations, one of mafia type, the other with the main purpose of trafficking in drugs, linked together by common illegal interests.
Some members of the mafia gang were also part of the criminal organization of drug traffickers. The "sister" organizations had taken on a role in criminal circles such as to affect the dynamics of the Messina underworld. Some of the suspects were the protagonists of an extortion against the holder of a Messina cultural association that, threatened with damage, was induced to resign. The investigation has found dozens of drug dealing cases. Furthermore, the criminal organizations had the availability of large quantities of weapons.
