This package will also connect quarries producing building materials in the north of the country, which contributes to the upgrading of Cat Transport and shipping in the state cross-linking strategic ports and points of manufacturing, production and population centers, and advancing the economic and social development, in addition to strengthening the transport sector in the country and bring about a qualitative leap in the movement of freight and logistics sector.

His Highness Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that the Etihad Rail Company through its award of package "D" is achieving an important achievement in its process to develop one of the most important economic and development projects in the country by providing a safe, modern and sustainable national railway network that meets the aspirations and future aspirations of the state, It supports its position as part of the regional and global logistics system and supply chain.
The "D" package extends over a distance of 145 km, during which 15 tunnels will be constructed across the mountains, with a total length of more than 16 km. With the passage of the network in deep valleys and aligned with stone mountains, 35 bridges and 32 special crossing points for animals will be built. Connecting the ports of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan to the rail network will provide the opportunity to transport up to two million containers, which will play an effective and vital role in promoting international trade. It is expected that Etihad Rail Company will transport up to 30 million tons of building materials annually to the distribution centers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which will contribute to reducing the cost of building materials while reducing truck trips on the roads by more than 2000 trips daily.
