Northvolt will set up its test facility for recycling of obsolete electric car batteries in Västerås. The plant will be built next to the now almost finished factory for small-scale production of batteries called the Northvolt lab. - We need to take the materials that come from batteries that are no longer used and make new batteries from them, says Emma Nehrenheim recycling manager at Northvolt.
The entire plant in the industrial area Finnslätten is focused on testing operations and now you should not only test production but also recycling.
Northvolt plans to have the test plant for recycling of mineral minerals completed sometime in 2020. In the long term, Northvolt expects their batteries to be produced in half of recycled materials.
