At the top of Branäsberget, the snow rains down when we get there during Friday morning. The brilliant white snow is a stark contrast to the rain that whipped the car's windscreen most of the way between Karlstad and Branäs.

- With this weather, you can only think that it is wonderful. Now only the sun is really missing, says Christoffer Lilja, who is site manager in Branäs.

It is only in recent years that Branäs managed to open as early as mid-December. And for the plant, it is important to be able to open as early as possible.

- It is very important for us to get together guests early in the season, show what we can do and show future guests that we can lay snow and be open like this in early December, says Christoffer Lilja.

Not just hot landers

On the slopes, there is plenty of families with children already on the first opening day.

- That's really good. I think it's fun to ski, says Ellen Wennerbrink from Gothenburg.

What's the fun with it then?

- Type that you can use the whole body and so on.

Ellen Wennerbrink hails from Gothenburg and is in Branäs together with her mother, father and brother. And the brother is just as happy as the acid of having to put on boots and skis.

- The thing is to have fun in the snow, says Malte Wennerbrink.

While the siblings Wennerbrink lets the skis slip on in the snow, Branäs head of site looks out over the plant and blinks away the fresh snow that dizzy around his eyes.

- Right now the conditions are perfect. We have had some problems with King Bore, which has varied degrees of plus and minus. But we have had minus degrees certain nights and we have taken advantage of that, says Christoffer Lilja.
