The local authorities in the Spanish region of Catalonia announced today, Friday, that about three thousand police and private security personnel will be allocated for the tournament "Classico" postponed from the tenth stage between Barcelona and Real Madrid, which will be held next Wednesday, in fear of any targeting from "The separatists."

The call to demonstrate around the Camp Nou stadium raised concerns about the organization of one of the most watched matches in the world, which was previously postponed last October due to violence in the Catalonia region, as a result of demonstrations called by Catalan groups in favor of secession on the same day of the match in protest. Nine separatist leaders must be imprisoned for their role in the province's attempt to secede from Spain in 2017.

Barcelona occupies the top of the domestic league with 34 points, equally with Real Madrid, with an advantage for the first with a goal difference.

The Minister of the Interior of the Catalan government, Michel Buch, told a press conference that the police "will protect the match, the arrival of the fans, and their security inside and outside the stadium."

The Commissioner-General of the Regional Authority of Catalonia, Eugenie Sallent, said that a total of one thousand policemen from many of the Catalan regional police will be added to a number of public and private security, which will raise the number to three thousand people.

According to the police chief, the officers will protect the area around the stadium since early morning, so teams, referees and fans can enter without any problem.

Surveillance and inspection of fans will also be strengthened, as a collar will be put in place to prevent protesters from reaching the stadium entrances.

Security personnel will be on the alert, as well as around the field of the match.

In a tweet published shortly after the press conference, the pro-independence organization "Democratic Tsunami" said that it "did not say that it wanted to prevent or suspend the game. On the contrary, the tsunami wanted to invite the whole world to see and follow it."

The "tsunami" urged the demonstrators to gather at four specific points around the Camp Nou stadium starting at four o'clock GMT, four hours before the start of the match.

"One of the most complex scenarios is the invasion of the field," said the commissioner-general of the Catalan regional commission. "It is a difficult situation that we do not consider likely in principle, but it is possible."

Security breaches will lead to the punishment and fine of the Catalan club, including playing games behind closed doors.
