The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has announced that her Government will donate 20 prefabricated houses to the City Council to accommodate refugees . These temporary accommodations, as indicated, will have capacity for 200 people while the Social Welfare delegate of the Madrid City Council, José Aniorte , has placed the figure between 200 and 300 seats.

According to the Department of Housing, each of these properties has an area of 60 square meters divided into three rooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room. It will be the Consistory that determines the municipal plot in which they will be located and "will bear all the expenses that will entail the transportation, installation and assembly", as indicated by the Executive of the Puerta del Sol.

The areas of Urban Development and Families, Equality and Social Welfare of the City Council are jointly studying the place where this emergency center will be located , which will be "flow" and not "to stall people there," said Aniorte.

"I want to announce a measure that we are going to do between the mayor [José Luis Martínez-Almeida] and me personally, which is to donate 20 prefabricated houses so that 200 people can in a very short time be in the best conditions," Ayuso said Thursday at the Regional Assembly in response to a question from United We can on what your Government will do to prevent refugees from sleeping outdoors.

These accommodations are part of the assets of the Social Housing Agency of the Community of Madrid. The model is the same as, for example, in 2005 it was sent to Sri Lanka to attend to the victims of the tsunami that affected 14 countries in South Asia.

As pointed out in the Ayuso team, this "solution" adds to other joint work actions with the central government and various organizations, such as the agreements reached with the Red Cross and the opening of a reception center in the municipality of Cercedilla. New places for refugees are also planned in the Casa de Campo and Los Molinos.

From the City Council of the capital, the delegate of Social Welfare has indicated that it continues "in the line of reception in all the capacity of municipal resources" and that a specific intervention project will be enabled for the management of asylum seekers with "a specific company" and in no case with resources from Social Samur.

Aniorte has also thanked the Community of Madrid that "has put its shoulder" to "support the alarming situation of the city" in a competition that has recalled that it is the responsibility of the central government. " We demand that the Government act, take responsibility and face it because there has not yet been a single occasion when the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Labor have done so," he concluded.
