WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Three people, including a suspected shooter, were killed and at least seven others were wounded on Friday at the Marine Corps Pensacola Air Force Base, a major US Navy base in Florida, in the second deadly shooting at a US military facility this week, authorities said.

The office of the police chief of Skamya County, Florida, said an "active shooter" at the base was countered on Friday.

The police commander and the navy said the shooter died a few minutes later.

According to the local WIR television channel, the deputy provincial police chief at the base shot and killed the shooter.

The navy said in a statement, without giving details, that two other people were killed.

The seven injured were receiving treatment at a hospital, the local television channel said.

A White House spokesman said President Donald Trump had been informed of the incident and was following the situation.

On Wednesday, a sailor shot three civilians at the historic Pearl Harbor base in Hawaii, killing two of them before committing suicide.

According to the Pensacola website, the base has about 16,000 military personnel and 7,400 civilians.
