Julien Bayou (here in 2015) succeeds David Cormand at the head of EELV. THOMAS SAMSON / AFP

Meeting in congress this Saturday, November 30 in Saint-Denis, the ecologists have agreed to designate Julien Bayou at the head of the party Europe Ecology-The Greens.

Europe Ecology-The Greens seem to have not finished with his old demons. While the egos wars and people's quarrels have cost him dearly in the past, his executives and activists this time called for the rally. However, it was only after intense negotiations until the very last minute that ecologists agreed on a very broad agreement to designate Julien Bayou as national secretary of EELV.

The challenge was the distribution of the fifteen positions on the management team. According to the agreement found, Julien Bayou's motion A will get seven positions in the executive. The motion of Eva Sas, which had several relatives of the leader Yannick Jadot , will have four positions, and that of the former Deputy National Secretary Alain Coulombel three.

The outgoing Secretary General David Cormand , who was very much applauded during his speech, gives his seat to one of his faithful. Julien Bayou was not the choice of Yannick Jadot, notes our journalist Marie de la Moissonnière . The strong man of the Greens, however, took care never to decide for any of the candidates. The MEP cultivates her image as a rallyer. It remains to be seen whether the bishops of this congress will leave traces or whether EELV will succeed in uniting around Yannick Jadot and surpassing himself to conquer power.

The day will come when we will be in a position to lead to the destinies of this country. In the meantime, our course of action must be in two words: work and modesty.
