UAE nationals who wish to travel to India for the first time must apply for an electronic or paper visa, according to the UAE Embassy in India.

The embassy explained through its Twitter account that a visa upon arrival in India is available to UAE nationals who have previously obtained an electronic visa or paper visa to India, regardless of whether the person has already visited India or not, but not less valid Emirates passport for six months with a ticket to follow the journey or return.

As of November 16, 2019, the Government of India has decided to grant UAE nationals a visa on arrival that is valid for entry twice for a maximum stay of 60 days to only six Indian airports - Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that UAE nationals with regular passports who are not resident or working in the Republic of India can obtain a visa on arrival, valid for entry twice for a maximum stay of 60 days for the purposes of trade, tourism, conferences and treatment through six dedicated international airports.

The visa fee on arrival is INR 2000 or the equivalent in foreign currency per passenger, including children.

The state embassy in New Delhi called on nationals wishing to visit India to disclose their gold jewelery to the relevant authorities at Indian airports in order to avoid legal accountability.
