The Kremlin responded to Lukashenko’s statements about relations with Russia

2019-11-18T12:28:49.911Z

Russian President’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on statements by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko on relations between Moscow and Minsk.

The representative of the Kremlin, answering a question from journalists, said that the president of Belarus talked about the advisability of an alliance with Russia "hypothetically."

“But we continue to consistently proceed from the fact that in this case the mutual benefit of this union, the mutual benefit of the Union State is absolutely unshakable,” Peskov said.

He also noted that the Kremlin drew attention to the emotionality of Lukashenko's statements.

Lukashenko said earlier that “no roadmaps” for the integration of Belarus and Russia will “be signed” if “fundamental issues in the economy” are not resolved.
