“The detachment of the Baltic Fleet’s ships consisting of the Yaroslav the Wise, the sea tug boat“ Viktor Konetsky ”and the tanker“ Yelnya ”, performing long-range cruise missions, made a business call at the port of Tartus (Syria),” the Interfax statement said.

The Baltic Fleet specified that this is the second call of the detachment to the Syrian port during the long voyage.

As part of combat training missions, the ships performed a conditional search and detection of submarines of a conditional enemy, and also carried out electronic missile launches at sea targets using the Uranus complex.

Earlier, joint exercises of the Russian Navy and Russian Aerospace Forces took place in the Mediterranean Sea.
