CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's government will cut some prices of goods on ration cards starting next December, the country's official news agency MENA said on Saturday.

The price of a cooking oil bottle will be reduced to 8.5 Egyptian pounds ($ 0.53) for 9.5 pounds, and the price of sugar will be reduced to 8.5 pounds per kilogram instead of nine pounds, while the price of rice will be reduced to eight pounds per kilo instead of nine pounds. Flour) packaged to 6.5 pounds instead of 6.75 pounds, and the Minister of Supply did not explain why to reduce those prices.

The Egyptian government returned 1.8 million citizens to ration cards last October, on the order of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The Ministry of Supply removed these citizens earlier this year after it began a review of the subsidy system to remove those who believe that their incomes are so high that they do not need to get subsidized commodities.
