This Sunday, November 17th is World Recycling Day. While in ecology, the issue of waste reduction remains paramount, some advocate simply their removal. This is the case of the mayor of the 10th district of Paris which launched in January 2019 a "zero waste" initiative, in partnership with the association "Zero Waste" in the rue de Paradis. Reportage.

Scooters, cars, pedestrians and small businesses. At first glance, a Parisian street like there are hundreds of others. And yet, since January 2019, the rue de Paradis is committed to zero waste. What assessment after a year of initiative?

" We feel that people now are aware and especially children. I have two children and I swear they are aware, with "zero waste", they sensitized children. They ask questions: why mom, what is " zero waste ", what do they want to do? Says Oussila, a resident of the street.

The inhabitants, but not only: traders could also participate in the zero waste initiative, like Paul Solier, co-founder of the French Federation of the aperitif.

" We launched a zero waste wine. We developed this concept because we, we have always been sensitive to environmental issues and it is true that the dynamics of the mayor invited us to go probably faster in our project than we would have done, "says Paul Solier.

But not everyone is convinced, like Benjamin Kam, manager of the Egg Factory restaurant. " Rue de Paradis zero waste, there's still a lot of effort to be done. I think adding garbage cans, there's just to look in the street there, there's still a lot of waste still. "

The rue de Paradis zero waste, more than a communication campaign? According to the mayor of the 10th district, after six months there was already a decrease of 53 tons of household garbage.
