• Mobilization: Tsunami Democràtic calls to block the French border with Irun after the eviction of La Junquera

The border with France by Irún is registering kilometer retention as a result of the accumulation of trucks and the mobilization of Tsunamic Democràtic that has called to block this border crossing after it was evicted from La Junquera in Girona.

Already an hour before the planned mobilization began at 6:00 p.m., there were retentions of up to 10 kilometers due to the accumulation of trucks, more numerous today because Monday was a holiday in France and could not circulate in the country neighbour.

This has caused that those who were driving with their cars to block the border following the independence call have found a real stopper and have not been able to cross the border.

Tsunami Democràtic activists, supported on this occasion by their supporters in Euskadi, have used social networks to make the call.

The call to block Irún came after the eviction of the protest that was taking place at the border post of La Junquera (Girona) from early Monday morning.

In that eviction a total of 19 people were arrested, one of them by the Mossos d'Esquadra and 18 by the French Gendarmerie, during the protests and the highway blockade.

In protest of these evictions, the independence protesters have moved by cutting the AP-7 at the height of Girona and have set up a stage ready to spend the night there .

At the moment, in Irún there have been no incidents with the Ertzaintza . The Basque Department of Security had already announced that Ertzaintza would mobilize resources to the border area, "depending on needs", but without, in principle, establishing any special device to avoid possible problems. "Ertzaintza is always aware of security risks and resources will be mobilized according to needs, as usual in these situations," the same sources have noted.

From the Basque Government the spokesman, Josu Erkoreka , has asked this morning to respect the freedom of transit through the Biriatou border crossing and has stressed that the Basque Government is not in favor of adopting actions that block that right to freedom of movement and economic traffic.

These demonstrations have also been answered by some of the activists through social networks, arguing that the dignity of the people is above the freedom of transit.

On whether the Basque Executive is preparing measures to prevent the collapse in the area, he said he is waiting to have more information about this call.

"We will see what it translates, in what terms, under what conditions, if there are administrative requests or not, if they are going to be authorized concentrations or not," he said.

On the other hand, the spokeswoman for the Diputación de Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, has indicated on the call and the possible conditions that may result in the government of Gipuzkoa "always welcoming, obviously, with respect all the statements made."

"The Diputación always receives with respect all the movements" and now it does it "naturally", he said, to questions from journalists during a press conference he has offered this morning in San Sebastián to give an account of the issues approved by the Foral Executive

"The claim is legitimate, we will be attentive and will make an assessment once finished," he has settled.
