Since the thefts were discovered, Apotekstjänst has reported the crime to the police and informed the Swedish Medicines Agency.

- We handle 1.5 million tablets every day. Clearly we have a requirement to keep track of every single tablet.

SVT: Do those who have been selected for the thefts still work?

- No, they are different from the assignment, says Örjan Frid.

"Better day by day"

The criticism has been close to the pharmacy service in recent days. In addition to the missing tablets, the company has also missed large deliveries, which has caused a large material shortage in several hospital regions and several operations have had to be canceled.

The problems have also led to the pharmacy service receiving a quality mark, which certifies that the company has a management system that has been reviewed and meets the requirements of an ISO certification, "paused".

- There is only one way to restore confidence, to become a good supplier. It is important to arrange the deliveries, it gets better day by day. We have a good working relationship with our principal, who actually ensures that our regions receive deliveries from elsewhere. It works for the moment, says Örjan Frid.

"Could not continue"

The deliveries are not the only concern for the pharmacy service, as the Swedish Medicines Agency has threatened to withdraw its condition due to the stolen tablets.

- We have a temporary permit and we wait for them to approve the changes that we have reported that we have made. If they do not approve, it is serious, because we deliver to 85,000 patients and could not continue with it then.

SVT: When will material supplies for operations be up and running at full scale?

- A great question that I wish I had an answer to. We have a job that is gradually getting better, but it will take some time, because it is IT development and nothing we do with a "quick fix" unfortunately, says Örjan Frid.
