Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has ruled out a virtual driving system as a mandatory tool in the vehicle training and learning system, which has been found to be unsuitable for 70% of users. For rotor trainees.

Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, Executive Director of the Licensing Corporation, told Emirates Today that the system, which is one of the most advanced and effective systems, has been tried as an educational tool, but it did not suit the largest percentage of users, so it was decided to use it by the trainees optionally. In training institutes.

Al Ali explained that the majority of the users of the system felt uncomfortable and kind of dizziness, including himself, which led to the institution to exclude the adoption of the system and only allow in using it as an additional educational tool with trainees who feel comfortable in using it.

He added that virtual driving technology, based on virtual reality technology to improve the experience of individuals during training, as the user is transported through special glasses to streets match the real streets, is a model based on the simulation of driving through artificial intelligence techniques.

He stressed that the system is an innovative tool to train drivers in driving and dealing with potential risks, such as bad weather, drift, sudden parking of vehicles and sudden pedestrian crossing. The system uses wearable helmet technology to obtain a 360-degree view through a three-dimensional environment, and the project aims to achieve many objectives, most notably raising the level of training by obtaining a comprehensive, realistic and more interactive experience, and prepare the trainees to lead without exposing them or others to any risks, This increases trainees' perception of risk, improves traffic safety, and reduces risk perception.

It is worth mentioning that the Licensing Corporation has developed and adopted the Risk Perception Test as part of the tests required to obtain a driving license. The test includes five videos to be added to the knowledge test for each student, and selected from the electronic question bank, where each duration of 25 seconds each.
