The storms that hit southern France in the past three days have killed three people, the interior ministry said Thursday (October 24th). Heavy rains fell on the southeast, from Montpellier to Marseille, causing significant damage. This episode of heavy rains, which struck "simultaneously up to eight departments", resulted in 1,773 interventions and mobilized more than 2,000 firefighters and civil security forces.

The floods, which have caused a lot of damage on the railway lines, have led the SNCF to stop traffic between Toulouse and Montpellier and between Montpellier, Perpignan and Spain, until November 4 at least.

Thursday morning, nearly 400 homes remained without electricity in the Hérault and 300 in the Gard. Only one department, Haute-Corse, remained in "orange vigilance" for rains and floods.
