According to Interfax with reference to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the flight took place in the airspace over the waters of the Caspian and Arabian seas, as well as the Indian Ocean.

The duration of the flight of strategic missile carriers was more than 13 hours, pilots covered more than 11 thousand kilometers.

At the last stages of the flight, the Russians were accompanied by fighters of the South African Air Force.

The VKS air group visits South Africa under the military cooperation agreement concluded in the summer of 1995 by the ministries of defense of Russia and South Africa.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Defense will send a Russian air group, which will include two strategic bombers of the Russian air forces Tu-160, to the Republic of South Africa to work out the interaction between the pilots of the two countries.
