It is GP who writes about the latest trips around the children's hospital. The children's hospital is under construction and a number of single rooms have already been built, ie one patient at a time. But now the management says it has come to the conclusion that the prevailing staff situation does not allow for single rooms and that it is therefore possible to be forced to demolish a number of walls.

- Individual rooms require more staff. Then there is also a very important work environment aspect in this. As staff, you can end up in care situations with patients who are acutely impaired, which you can experience as difficult if you stand alone with the patient in a single room, says Olof Hafström, Head of Operations Sahlgrenska to GP.

Costs have skyrocketed

SVT News West has in a series of reports reviewed the building and has shown, among other things, that the costs have skyrocketed. According to the latest calculation, the bill will end up at around SEK 2 billion, compared with the plan which was SEK 1.2 billion.

SVT has also mentioned, among other things, a conference where taxpayers were allowed to stand for the bill for the construction company NCC's alcohol purchases, despite contravening the region's guidelines.

Conditions have changed

So GP is now reporting further problems. The management should have made a calculation of their staffing needs and then stated that there will be a shortage of above all specialist nurses.

The head of operations Olof Hagström explains the possible demolition with the hospital being planned since 2007 and that the conditions have changed during the project.
