20 October 2019The opera as a vehicle to make our language known and spread globally. The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma takes part in the celebrations of the Italian Language Week in the World with concerts in Doha in Qatar on October 22nd and in the diplomatic district of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on October 25th and 26th, in collaboration with the Italian embassies in the two countries. "After the successful tour in Oman, the collaboration agreement with the Opera del Lebanon and the concert of the Youth Orchestra in Kuwait - states the Superintendent Carlo Fuortes -, the presence of the Rome Opera in the countries of the Near East continues with this stage in the collaboration of our theater with the Arab countries, to make our cultures dialogue with a spirit of reciprocal exchange and enrichment ”.

"We are particularly satisfied - comments the Ambassador of Italy in Qatar, Pasquale Salzano - to host a concert of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in Doha among the initiatives promoted by the Embassy during the XIX edition of the Italian Language Week in World. The strengthening of relations between Italy and Qatar also passes through cultural exchanges and the presence on the territory of our excellence in the artistic and musical field ".

The tribute to our language is entrusted for the occasion to the talents of "Fabbrica" ​​Young Artist Program who will celebrate it in concerts of opera arias, the most important musical tradition of our country and emblem of Italy all over the world. The program proposes arias from works by Verdi, Puccini, Mascagni and Bellini. To interpret them will be the soprano Erika Beretti and the mezzo-soprano Irida Dragoti, accompanied on the piano by Edina Bak. The artists come from the first two editions of "Fabbrica" ​​Young Artist Program of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the project born in 2016 and aimed at encouraging the transmission of knowledge and the promotion of new talents in the field of opera. It involves singers, masters, directors, set designers, costume designers and lighting designers. The selections have already been concluded for the third edition which will take place in the biennium 2020/2021.
