Respiratory diseases became the most common: in 2018, more than 2 million cases of the disease were recorded in children in the first year of life.

Then there are individual conditions that occur in the perinatal period (from the 22nd week of the mother’s pregnancy until the end of the first week of the child's extrauterine life). According to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), this group of diseases includes various disorders, including birth trauma, congenital anomalies, and more. Last year, such conditions were diagnosed 411 thousand times.

Along with this, disorders of the nervous system (almost 400 thousand cases) and digestive organs (236.6 thousand), as well as skin diseases (almost 220 thousand) were often found.

Not so often, infants were diagnosed with neoplasms (43.7 thousand cases), injuries (41.6 thousand), circulatory system disorders (17.1 thousand) and abnormalities, not classified elsewhere (according to ICD-10 , these are cases when it is impossible to accurately diagnose), - 4.2 thousand cases.

It is noted that the most rare in infants were mental and behavioral disorders (18 cases over the past year). Compared to 2008, this indicator decreased by 70 times (then 1.2 thousand cases were recorded).

In 2018, almost 4.3 million cases of various diseases in children in the first year of life were recorded.

According to the pediatrician Kirill Kalistratov, a large number of cases of respiratory diseases in infants are associated with the fact that the immunity of young children is formed mainly through lung diseases.

“The most common diseases in children are acute respiratory infections, usually of a viral nature. These diseases primarily affect the respiratory system, since viruses have a tropism (compatibility. - RT ) to it, ”he explained in an interview with RT.

The specialist also confirmed that parents who have suspected problems with the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract in their children are more likely to see a doctor.

Earlier, the most common diseases among Russian schoolchildren were named.
