“Roskomnadzor ... sent a letter to Sberbank of Russia with a request to provide information on the reasons that led to the distribution of personal data of Sberbank of Russia PJSC customers,” the statement said.

The Office asks for information about the persons who allowed such a distribution, as well as measures taken to eliminate the corresponding consequences.

As indicated, the specialists of Roskomnadzor found that to date, "the base is not distributed in the public domain."

“Work is ongoing to study the circumstances of what happened in order to clarify the signs and type of violations,” the department added.

Earlier, Sberbank said that they had organized an internal investigation in connection with a possible leak of personal data of 200 bank credit card holders.

On October 3, the Kommersant newspaper wrote that the personal data of the bank's customers were on the black market, and the “sellers” claim that they own data on 60 million credit cards.

It was pointed out that the seller offers a “potential buyers” a trial fragment of a database of 200 lines.

As the representative of Sberbank emphasized, theft of funds from customer cards is impossible, since attackers do not have access to CVV codes.
