Sandra Muller, initiator of #balancetonporc, was sentenced on Wednesday for defamation. The complainant, Eric Brion, gave his relief to the microphone of Europe 1.

REACTION

The initiator of the #balancetonporc hashtag, Sandra Muller, was sentenced Wednesday for defaming the man she accused of harassment. "The world upside down", indignant Céline Piques, spokesperson of the association Dare the feminism !, at the microphone of Europe 1. For the plaintiff, Eric Brion, this decision is on the contrary "the result two years of fighting ".

"Huge lie"

In October 2017 on Twitter, Sandra Muller had accused by name Eric Brion of misogynist remarks at a party in Cannes in 2012, where they were both in the course of their work. "An enormous injustice and a huge lie," says the complainant on Europe 1. Sandra Muller was sentenced for defamation to 15,000 euros in damages and interest for non-pecuniary damage and 5,000 euros in legal costs. "I am proud to have led this battle," says Éric Brion. "You can not shoot a man's life by throwing his name on social media."

"Double standard of justice"

On the side of Dare feminism, the tone is quite different. "I am completely outraged by the decision of the court," exclaimed Céline Piques, who does not hesitate to speak of "patriarchal justice" and its "double standard" for men and women. "On the one hand, we have men who are extremely misogynist and who get convictions for their victims, and on the other hand, it is extremely difficult for women who are victims of gender-based violence to seek justice."

Sandra Muller's lawyer has already announced her intention to appeal.
