The speech of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the United Nations General Assembly on the death of former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi angered Egypt, where Cairo considered it an attempt to dismiss the deterioration of the status of Erdogan's regime internally and internationally.

The Egyptian mission to the United Nations said in a letter to the Secretary-General that there are more than 75 thousand political detainees in Turkey, and that Turkey has confiscated thousands of schools and universities, and arbitrarily dismissed more than 130 thousand government employees.

She added that Turkey, the world's most imprisoned for journalists and media, accused it of embracing the Muslim Brotherhood and providing political support and media platforms for its members.

The letter said that Turkey sponsors terrorism in Syria and Libya, and facilitates the passage of terrorist elements to Europe, Africa and Asia. At the end of her speech, the Egyptian mission called for holding Turkey and the Turkish president accountable for supporting terrorism and suppressing and exterminating the Kurds.

Turkish response
On the other hand, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing its rejection of the statements made by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman yesterday, describing it as fabrications and lies targeting Turkey and its president.

The statement added that criticism of the democratic situation in Turkey by an administration that took power in a coup is ridiculous.

The statement pointed out that the Egyptian government chose to follow an aggressive stance to cover up its human rights violations.

The Turkish president said yesterday that the death of Egyptian President-elect Mohamed Morsi, who is fighting in the courtroom and not allowing his family to bury him "a bleeding wound."

On June 17, the Egyptian authorities announced the death of Morsi after suffering a fainting attack during his trial.
