Australian rocker Nick Cave cheered his fans on Monday by announcing the release next week of his new album, the double disc "Ghosteen".

The 62-year-old singer, a gothic and alternative rock star, has announced on his website the release of the 17th album of his band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

"The songs from the first album are the kids, the ones from the second are the parents," said the singer-songwriter, known for the emotion of his lyrics.

"Ghosteen is a spirit in motion," he added.

The first disc is made of eight tracks while the second will consist of only two (long) pieces, "linked by a text of + spoken word +", a form of oral poetry accompanied or not by music.

The exact date of release is not known.

This is the first album of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds since 2016 and "Skeleton Tree", in which the singer returned including the accidental death of his teenage son.
