Deeply divided, Labor, the main British opposition party, began this weekend in Brighton a difficult congress for its leader Jeremy Corbyn, pressed by more and more pro-European activists and deputies to take a stand for the maintenance from the UK to the EU, as Brexit is fast approaching.

Triumphal welcome under applause to break everything; yet the speaker is not Jeremy Corbyn and we are not in the main hall of Congress.

The heroes of the day here are Tom Watson, Emily Thornberry or Hilary Benn, heavyweights of the Labor Party who came to defend in a side room a resolutely pro-European line, unlike their leader who wants to remain neutral. " I do not see how the party can run an election campaign saying about the main problem for the country: '' We will not tell you what we think ''. "

Hilary Benn is afraid that Labor's scrambled message costs the party votes, and indeed in the streets of Brighton, voters find it hard to see. " You want to laugh ? How could I understand the position of Labor on Brexit ? What is it ? And who to believe ? It's a bit of a mess ! An elector rebels. " There is a contradiction when Labor says it wants to get a better deal from Brexit and anyway plans to campaign to stay in the EU, " adds another.

Brexit, anti-Brexit, will Labor finally decide? He must adopt this Monday evening an official position in a vote but he is not sure he sort of ambiguity.
