According to the news agency Siren, which has taken the help of the credit market company UC, there are more than 600 companies in Sweden that have their parent company in the UK. Swedish companies that have subsidiaries in the country amount to about 800.

Astra Zeneca largest in Sweden

Of the Swedish companies that have the parent company in the UK, Astra Zeneca is the largest, both in terms of turnover and the number of employees. The head office is in English Cambridge.

It is still unclear what a Brexit would have for consequences, but as we have previously stated, Astra Zeneca has built up a lab in Södertälje that is ready to test medicines produced in the UK for the EU market. Watch the clip here:

- The importance of Brexit is hardly exaggerated, although the outcome is still in the balance, says Stefan Westerberg, senior economist at Stockholm Chamber of Commerce to Siren.

- All companies will suffer more or less in the event of a severe Brexit.

Scania is on the second list

Scania in turn is included in the list of companies that have subsidiaries in the UK. But according to Stefan Westerberg, the industry giants in Sweden will do best if there is a severe Brexit.

- Even though they are affected more in terms of volume, the smaller companies are more vulnerable to the effects that arise if and when one of the world economy giants leaves the EU internal market.

- My view is that the large companies with global value chains are generally equipped to cope with such changes.
