Meat consumption has decreased over the past two years, but we are still at a historically high level of consumption.

The Swedes are historically a grain-eating people. However, higher living standards and lower meat prices have led to a significant increase in meat consumption over the past 30 years.

- When we got better in the latter part of the 20th century, we started to put gold on existence in the form of all different kinds of meat, says Richard Tellström.
