Emirati women have assumed advanced positions in the fields of volunteerism and humanitarian giving, following the accession of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, where the number of Emirati volunteers with 3937 volunteers, deployed inside and outside the country to support and relief the needy and affected people around the world.

Dr. Shirin Al-Zaabi, an internist, volunteered at the Red Crescent in 2003. She participated in awareness campaigns, such as breast cancer, stress and diabetes, and gave first aid lectures in schools.

“As a woman, I was not prevented from participating in the relief mission to provide comprehensive medical services to those affected in Pakistan during the war, floods and vaccination campaigns, despite the dangers posed to the UAE Red Crescent convoy at the time,” Al Zaabi said.

"I participated in the relief mission to help Syrian refugees in Greece and Jordan, who took refuge in the Red Crescent camp as a refuge away from war," Zaabi said.

Dr. Amal Al Adhab, a general practitioner, joined volunteer work at the UAE Red Crescent Authority and her twin sister at the opening of Syrian refugee camps in Greece, and then continued volunteering in refugee camps. "Our country has supported the Red Crescent, and it has facilitated our work to serve the affected people all over the world," she said.

Fatima Juma Al Marzouqi, a volunteer and a staff member of the Red Crescent, said: `` Volunteering gave me the opportunity to participate in putting the fingerprint of Emirati women in humanitarian work.

Ophthalmology consultant Dr. Mona Saleh Al-Harthy said: “The UAE government has helped give women the opportunity to work on self-development and build a strong personality, so that they can be active in all activities on the local, regional and international arenas”.

Al-Harthy added: “The UAE Red Crescent supported women in fulfilling their role.”

Zahra Hashim Al-Hammadi is a volunteer in many events and initiatives within the Red Crescent. She points out that volunteering is a culture and awareness that makes the individual in society more sophisticated.

`` I joined (the Red Crescent) in 2018, and my first mission was to travel to Morocco, and to help the poor who need eye examinations and treatment at no cost, '' said Dr. Mariam Abid Saeed Al Marri, a volunteer at the TRA. I worked with pride, being an Emirati and representing my country.
