Floods and water damage

After the fall on Wednesday morning, the emergency services struggled to fix water-damaged houses and buildings at about ten addresses in Ronneby municipality. SOS Alarm sent alarms after alarms about new addresses that were affected by water damage in the basement.

These included houses and buildings in central Ronneby, but also in Kallinge, Sörby and Häggatorp. At an address in Kallinge, the flood must have turned off the current. The ice rink in Kallinge was also hit by a heavy flood.

"We go from one place to another and try to prioritize which house is worst hit," said Christer Lindau at the Rescue Service Östra Blekinge on Wednesday to SVT News Blekinge.

The lightning struck

In the municipality of Karlshamn, the rescue service fired on two fire alarms after two villas were struck by lightning. It was about a villa on Domarevägen in Asarum and one on Ljusarydsvägen between Svängsta and Olofström. The damage situation on the villas is currently unclear.

A barn started to burn during Wednesday, but the cause of the fire is unclear.

The lightning also crashed in one of the trees at the G-Klavens school yard. The tree was split in the middle.

Several households were without electricity

Due to the thunderstorm, Eon increased readiness in the county with increased staffing.

On Wednesday afternoon, 438 of Eons electricity customers lacked electricity in Karlshamn municipality. Already then, the company had fixed thousands of outages around the county. Later in the evening, about twenty households were without electricity. Eon announced on Thursday morning that approximately 4,800 different power failures have been fixed in Blekinge for 24 hours.

Train traffic was stopped

The weather also stopped train traffic between Karlskrona and Kristianstad with canceled trains as a result.

But during Thursday morning, the trains will roll on as planned in Blekinge, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
