At eight o'clock on Monday, the school bell rings and the first day of the semester starts for many Dutch children. At first glance, the school yard may look exactly the same, as when it was left in early June. At the F-6 school, Knäredsskolan in Laholm, however, the children will be met by a different view in the form of one or two guardians.

- Due to the threat picture that exists and based on the information received by the school, there is reason to take further action. Therefore, for a preventive purpose, we have chosen to employ security guards at the school, says Richard Mortenlind, head of education in the municipality of Laholm.

"No need to worry"

At Knäredsskolan there are about 200 students and during the day the principal and the teachers will talk to the students about why they are guardians at the school.

- There is no reason to be worried. We take this measure to provide good security and safety around the school, says Richard Mortenlind.

If more guards will be deployed more days, something that the school, together with the head of education, will assess during the day, and information is expected to come later on Monday.
