In the European Chior Games event both professionals and beginners compete. Over 6300 choir singers and 171 choirs from all corners of the world have sung during the week, which is arranged for the fourth time.

Most riders come from Sweden, but there are also many long-distance guests in the competition, such as from China. And some who competed in the advanced class were the Indonesian choir Gitabumi.

- It feels great fun to be here in Gothenburg and compete. We fell in love with the city, says Jessica Teja.

Like a family

Most people in the choir have been singing since childhood. Gitabumi - which in Indonesian means "a singing world angel" - consists of girls and a boy, all between 10-17 years. The group has now become very welded.

- We are like a single big family. It's great fun to sing together, you get energy, says Dinda Alby.

Jessica Teja explains that they met through the school, among other things, and that their common denominator is the passion for the song. And if you are to succeed, not only does a good singing voice suffice, she says.

- You can have as good a singing voice as possible, but if you do not sing from the heart, the voice means nothing. One must be able to convey the message, Jessica Teja points out.

Strengthened self-confidence

With the choral song came many positive surprises for many of the members. Many people say that they feel that their self-confidence has increased since they started singing with the group.

- I'm really shy, but when I sing with the choir I get another confidence and it feels great, says Cinta Ghifiardi.
