In the Perrais family, wine is still a big part of Sunday meals. It is eaten with good food and discussed.

Normal, since the grandfather, Gerard, the son, Jean-Marie and his wife Nolwenn have all three devoted their lives to the world of wine. Indeed, Gérard Perrais is one of the three creators of the Cavavin franchise. Founded in 1983, it now has more than 150 points of sale throughout France.

His son, Jean-Marie, took over the Redon cellar of the same name, located in the commercial area, when he retired in 2008.

His wife, Nolwenn, joined the store in 2010. She has totally converted to this area. "I worked in a bank so, of course, it was not fun every day. There, people come "to the good pharmacy" , as they say, to have fun. It's just happiness, " says the shopkeeper, dynamic and visibly passionate.

The job has evolved

Since then, the couple has been running Cavavin and its four employees with enthusiasm. Each week, they are in contact with their suppliers, who allow them to offer a thousand references in the store.

" We move two or three times a year in vineyards, just to create links, to see how they work so that we can then talk to our customers," she says.

They saw the job evolve. "In my father's time, people often bought the same bottles, tirelessly," says Jean-Marie Perrais.

Today, customers are looking for advice, on the lookout for the latest trends and anxious to match the wine with the food they offer.

"Culinary shows have helped a lot. We can almost guess the dishes that are on TV when we see the requests of our customers in the days that follow, " says Nolwenn Perrais, amused.

Bar cellar and redemption

Parents of three girls, they never stop. In 2010, they bought a historic cellar that was going to close in the center of Savenay, in Loire-Atlantique. And, lately, they decided to open a cellar bar in this same town, this time on the outskirts.

Of course, these Redonnais do not forget Redon, their city they are always ready to defend. "It's still the heart of our business," she says.

The family cellar still has beautiful years ahead. "Our girls will do what they want, we will not push them to resume business," Dad says.

In her office, however, we can see a drawing of their eldest, 13 years old, who writes: "When I grow up, I will be a wine merchant. Maybe they'll catch the wine virus too.
