“In this regard, we consider the politicization of Interpol as a professional international organization uniting the efforts of 192 member countries in the fight against transnational crime and terrorism to be inadmissible,” she said.

Wolf stressed that if elected, Prokopchuk will work exclusively in the interests of Interpol.

Earlier, Lithuania and Ukraine threatened to leave Interpol if the Russian was elected head of the organization.

On November 20, it became known that a number of US senators called for opposition to the possible election of Alexander Prokopchuk to the post of head of Interpol. In the Kremlin, this call was called pressure on Interpol.
