Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that a better solution to the conflict would be to give the Palestinians the right to govern themselves, to be less than a state and more autonomous, and to withdraw from the West Bank.

In a speech at the American Jewish Community Conference in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu saw that the best solution to the conflict with the Palestinians was to give them the ability to govern themselves, without being able to "threaten Israel's security."

Netanyahu described the future Palestinian entity he accepts as "less than a state and more than self-rule."

"Israel must maintain security responsibility for the West Bank," he said.

Netanyahu said that the Gaza Strip "became a hotbed of radical Islam because of Israel's withdrawal from it (in 2005)," warning that the recurrence of this matter in the West in the event of withdrawal also.
