WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Special Prosecutor Robert Muller's report on Russia's intervention in the US presidential election in 2016 "completely cleared him," saying the investigation was "flawed."

"No collusion, no obstruction, complete and total acquittal," Trump said in a tweet on Twitter after Justice Minister Bill Barr published a summary of the report. Let us keep America great. "

Following the tweet, Trump told reporters before leaving Florida on the presidential plane that the investigation was "flawed".

"Frankly, it is shameful that your president has had to submit to this, which began even before my election," Trump said.

He added that the investigation "an illegal destructive attempt failed."

Muller's investigation found no evidence that his campaign had conspired or cooperated with the Russian government to influence the 2016 presidential election.

The main findings of the report, which took about two and a half years, came in a letter to Congress prepared by Attorney General William Barr, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Gerry Nadler, said.

"The Special Envoy has not found that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it has plotted or cooperated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite the numerous offers by individuals of Russia to assist the Trump campaign," Barr said in the letter.

Muller said in his report that there were two major Russian attempts to influence the elections.

Barr quotes directly from Muller's report: "While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not absolve him," with regard to a separate crime of obstruction of justice.

Barr wrote that in addition, after reviewing Muller's findings, "there is not enough evidence to establish that the president has committed the crime of obstruction of justice."

Barr added that accordingly, there would be no prosecution of the President on this issue.

In the first response to the report by the White House, spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in a statement that the results of Muller's report is "a complete and undivided full and complete acquittal of the president of the United States."
