In Paris and several other cities in France, the "yellow vests" are mobilized again Saturday, for an "act 19" which takes place in a new context. In fact, several prefectures have issued prohibition orders to protest after the violence of "Act 18" and soldiers are mobilized to secure sensitive areas.

The information to remember:

  • In Paris, demonstrations of "yellow vests" are prohibited Saturday on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées and its surroundings
  • In Marseille, Toulouse, Nice, or Bordeaux, prefectures have also banned gatherings in certain areas
  • For the first time, soldiers from Operation Sentinel are mobilized

Prohibitions to protest in several cities. The government wanted to provide a firm response after the violence of "Act 18". In response to acts of vandalism and to avoid overbidding, several prefectures have taken orders to ban demonstrations. In Paris, gatherings of "yellow vests" are prohibited on the Avenue des Champs-Elysees and its surroundings, as well as on the Place de l'Etoile.

It is also forbidden to demonstrate in the city center in Nice, on the Capitol Square in Toulouse, near the Old Port in Marseille or Pey-Berland place in Bordeaux. Measures that do not frighten some members of the movement, who announced that they would find other places to gather.

The soldiers of Operation Sentinel mobilized. On Wednesday, government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux also announced that the military Sentinel device would be mobilized Saturday, on the occasion of "Act 19". A first that is controversial. However, the government said they would not be directly involved in policing, but were going to guard official buildings to clear police.
