In the new Malian government, the appointment of Kamissa Camara did not go unnoticed. The new Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, who also has American and French nationality, is ambitious for her country.
An air of false timidity, a suspicious strand, Kamissa Camara can nevertheless quickly and energetically take the floor to defend a cause. This is what she has done for many years at the head of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). In 2013, she was one of the observers who watched the presidential election in Timbuktu, in northwestern Mali.
Kamissa Camara, 35, married, has lived and studied in France, but also in the United States, two countries of which she also holds the nationality. In both countries, she knows the world. His address book should therefore be useful. On the other side of the Atlantic, she worked for a while with former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The new Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, prior to her appointment, was also a regular at the NGOs that advocate good governance. She has traveled extensively to support good governance programs in Africa.
Knowledge of records
Finally at her bow, another chord: the foundation of the Sahel Strategy Forum she leads. Kamissa Camara knows the subject, the actors, the major problems, especially the security crisis. And that's probably also why she was appointed to this position.
