According to Metropolitan Daniel, the dispute between the canonical and non-canonical churches in Ukraine affects inter-Orthodox relations.

He also added that every autocephalous church has the right to self-government within only its own borders.

Answering the question of whether Patriarch Bartholomew crossed the limits of his jurisdiction in the situation with the provision of autocephaly to the UOC-KP, Metropolitan Daniel said that in Bulgaria "they definitely think that this is so."

Earlier, the Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko announced that a new Orthodox autocephalous church structure had been created in the country. Metropolitan Epiphanius Dumenko was elected its head.

It was also reported that Patriarch Bartholomew will hand over a tomos on autocephaly to Metropolitan Epiphanius on January 6 in Istanbul.
