An activist of the association Stop Homophobie who pulled Friday in a popular district of Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine) was attacked by several young people and beaten by one of them, did one learned from concordant sources.

Followed by a team from the show Envoyé Spécial , 23-year-old Lyes Alouane, already several times victim in his city of verbal and physical attacks because of his homosexuality, explained that he participated in a towing in the mailboxes of the Luth district when several young people have insulted him.

"Pursued by twenty young people, many minors" , he managed to escape but was caught by a young man who again launched "homophobic insults" before punching him in the face, reported Paul Gasnier, a journalist working for the France 2 show, witnessing the scene. "They fought and the young man beat him," he added.

The police did not intervene immediately

According to the young man's lawyer, Me Etienne Deshoulières, "the police did not intervene despite a request for intervention" by telephone from his client from the first invectives and threats.

Lyes Alouane tweeted a few minutes after the fact that "the police of Gennevilliers" had indeed arrived only "40 minutes after" the first verbal attacks he had reported to them.

The young man said he gave up filing a complaint at the police station of Gennevilliers, "given the reception received" on the spot. He should file a complaint directly with the prosecutor of the Republic of Nanterre earlier this week, announced his lawyer.

Contacted at the end of the afternoon, the police confirmed the invectives but were unable to confirm the physical assault.
