Visiting the agricultural fair he opened this Saturday morning, Emmanuel Macron struck a blow by calling for "reinventing" the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) to defend the "food sovereignty" of Europe.

As soon as he arrived at the fair, the President of the Republic delivered a speech centered on the Common Agricultural Policy. " Today's agricultural Europe is threatened from the outside, " the French president insisted, especially in the face of major powers such as Russia, China and the United States, but also " from within ".

The danger for our agriculture is not the competition of the Spanish fruits. It is the fact that our cattle are fed on imported GM soybeans and that the price of our poultry depends on them. The danger is not in Europe but in our dependence on other powers.

" Without the CAP, European consumers would not benefit from an accessible and quality food ," said Emmanuel Macron, while negotiations to develop the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) have just begun, not to mention the other deadline European Parliament, the end of May renewal of the European Parliament.
